About the Northwest Austin Community

Luxury home buyers often choose to settle in northwest Austin due to its proximity to many large companies and employment opportunities. A rather dense region, northwest Austin starts north of downtown and extends northwest toward the hill country, eventually ending at Lake Travis. Several golf courses in the area appeal to luxury homebuyers: Balcones Country Club, Golf Club at Avery Ranch, Great Hills Country Club, and University of Texas Golf Club. As Lake Travis is a major part of this area’s appeal, numerous public boat ramps also are within the area.

Lakeline Mall also is nearby, with a Dillard’s, Macy’s, 150 specialty stores, and a nine-screen Regal Theatre. Slightly beyond the region, just along the east side of MoPac, is The Domain, with hundreds of upscale retail stores, including luxury stores and higher end dining.

Homes in northwest Austin predominantly are zoned for the Austin Independent School District, with some homes in Leander ISD and Round Rock ISD.
