A “New Town” May Be Coming Soon to Central Texas

A massive “new town” master-planned community could be underway soon near Salado, which is north of Austin between Georgetown and Temple. DMB Development is under contract to buy over 7,000 acres of the Solana Ranch, a cattle and wildlife ranch that spans more than 13 miles, while the creation of its future municipal utility district (MUD) was approved by the Texas House and Senate and is on its way to the desk of Governor Greg Abbott. The community could have up to 14,000 homes and would be one of the largest Williamson County population centers with 50,000 residents. Development costs could reach $2 billion, with opening of the community possible in late 2026. DMB has stated it views Solana Ranch as having elements of a traditional Texas town, with varied housing types and price points. There also will be schools, churches, dining venues, office space, shopping, and recreational facilities, as well as paths and trails for outdoor recreation.
