Upscale Moviehouse & Eatery Theater Slated for Southwest Austin

The upscale movie theater chain Moviehouse & Eatery announced plans for a new mixed-use $80 million development complex in Southwest Austin. Construction on the 325,000 square foot development will begin this year at the southwest corner of William Cannon Drive and Southwest Parkway, making it an ideal destination for those in the Barton Creek and Lost Creek neighborhoods, as well as Travis Country, The Ridge at Lantana, and the Oak Hill area. The development will be named Lantana Place and will include approximately 140,000 square feet of office space, over 60,000 square feet of retail space, restaurants, and potentially a four-story, 150-room hotel. Moviehouse & Eatery Theater, which offers an upscale movie-watching experience with reclining seats, dining service, and a bar, is the anchor for the project. The theater is expected to open in Spring of 2018. Southwest Austin is a notoriously underserved, yet wealthy part of Austin. The project is being developed by Austin-based Stratus Properties. Moviehouse & Eatery Theater has one Austin location, on Highway 620 between FM 2222 and Anderson Mill. Moviehouse’s Austin website boasts its location has eleven dine-in theaters with reserved seating, plush recliners, wall-to-wall screens, and a full-service kitchen and bar with a chef-prepared menu. Moviehouse offers special movie events and series, as well as summer promotions for kids’ movies. Read more about the project in Community Impact.
