New, Roomier Daily Austin-London Flight at ABIA
Starting this month, Austin, Texas is the first city in North America to launch a daily flight between Austin and London Heathrow using British Airways’ 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. While daily flights between the two cities have been the norm since March 2014, this new jet is a roomier, stretch version of the previously used 787-8 Dreamliner.
According to a City of Austin press release, British Airways has been promoting the capital city as a destination for British travelers and “celebrating the quirky and creative cultural connections between the two cities.” The route was framed “as a way to connect European and Texas companies — with an annual local economic impact of up to $74 million.”
One of the luxury, first-class features of the jet is individual seats that become 6 ft. 6 in. fully flat beds, with only the twist of a button.
The flight is scheduled to arrive from London at 4:15 p.m. daily and depart for London at 6:20 p.m. daily.
