Central Texas Economy Strong, Says Austin Chamber
The Austin Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Economic Indicators report on the Central Texas region indicates the Austin-area economy remains strong, with the Austin metropolitan area adding 31,100 jobs, or 3.4%, in the 12 months ending August 2015. This makes Austin the eleventh best performing among the 50 largest metro areas.
The report also stated that Austin's seasonally adjusted unemployment is at 3.1%, an improvement from 3.2% in July. This rate is the lowest level since before the early 2000s "dot-com" recession. The number of unemployed people in Austin declined by 12,068, or 26.2%, over the last 12 months. Seasonally adjusted job growth in Austin from July 2015 to August 2015 was up 0.1%.
