Most of us have been there. We’re casually looking around online, checking out our options, and then all of the sudden it hits us.
This is the one.
Our thoughts are filled with images. “I love you!” we shout. We visit more and more often. Before we know it, it’s official.
We have a
home crush.
Thankfully, so do a lot of people! A
Realtor.com® survey revealed that 69 percent of people admitted to having had a home crush - a home they liked so much that they were drawn back to it more than once online or in person.
“We conducted the survey to see how searching for ‘the one’ in real estate correlates to searching for ‘the one’ in love, and we found that they are very similar,” said Barbara O’Connor, chief marketing officer at Realtor.com®. “Buyers have to evaluate crushes based on turn-ons and turn-offs and whether the home is in their league, so they often find themselves spending a good amount of time checking out their crush online.”
And, guess what? Men and women view the home courtship process differently. The survey results showed that women were more likely to crush on a
home out of their financial league, and men tended to move from one home crush to another more frequently.
Once decided on a “home relationship,” however, men and women do line up more closely. Both name outdoor living spaces as their top priority, with women opting for open floor plans as their second priority and men opting for garage space as their second priority.
How does this home love shape up in Austin? It could be exemplified by a woman pining for weeks over a beautiful luxury home, while a man may search for those elusive homes with six car garages.
